Susann & Timothy Thomas founded Thomas Caterers of Distinction in 1983 after a fire destroyed the couples upscale restaurant on East Washington Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. Instead of rebuilding the restaurant, they decided to put all their efforts into growing their off-premise catering division. One of their first catering jobs was for Mel and Bren Simon who were hosting a party to celebrate the Simon familys' purchase of the Indiana Pacers. In 1985 the company moved to its current home on North Keystone Avenue and in 2005 underwent a one million dollar renovation to service the growing needs of their company. In its first year of operation, the company hosted about 50 events a year. Since then Thomas Caterers of Distinction has grown to handle nearly 500 events a year and is known as one of the premiere catering companies in the nation.
Specializing in creating the perfect custom event, Thomas Caterers of Distinction will cater to their clients every need. Our professional event staff can handle all the details of any special occasion including transportation, audio visual, florals, entertainment, décor, and more. Thomas Caterers of Distinction is the only caterer in the state to have Certified Special Event Planners (CSEP) on staff. In fact, there are only five CSEP's in the entire state and three of them are with Thomas Caterers of Distinction. The CSEP designation is the hallmark of professional achievement in the special events industry. It is earned through education, performance, experience, and service to the industry. It is this professionalism and expectation of excellence that has made Thomas Caterers of Distinction one of the nations top caterers.
Because of their high standards, cutting edge menus, quality service and attention to detail, Thomas Caterers of Distinction has become the most nationally recognized catering company in Indiana, cited in over 11 national industry publications and winning numerous awards. Thomas Caterers of Distinction received an international ESPIRIT award in 2002 and 2003 from ISES (International Special Events Society) for Outstanding Off Premise Catering along with a plethora of local PACE (Professional Achievement in Creative Events) awards for Best Team Effort, Best Catered Affair, Best Themed Décor and Best Achievement in Logistics. In 2006 Thomas Caterers of Distinction was also voted Readers Choice Award Finalist for Best Caterer in Indianapolis by Indianapolis Woman magazine and nominated for an international CATIE Award from the International Caterers Association for Best Use of Mixology.
Co-Owner and General Manager, Kelly Early, CSEP (daughter of SusannThomas), is proud of her companys accomplishments. "We pride ourselves not only for being the leader in our industry but remaining the leader in our industry. Our toughest competition is ourselves. Continuous growth and creativity is important."

Dee,
We are back from our honeymoon, and we want to follow up with you regarding all of your hard work for our wedding.
We just can't thank you enough for all that you did to make things run perfectly on our wedding weekend, and to allow us to relax and simply enjoy ourselves. I am amazed at all of the things you quietly accomplished. From cleaning up the decorating mess I left in the dining room (I am so sorry!) and finishing the decorating, to running to McDonalds to accomodate our unexpected little guest, to putting everyone at ease with your huge smile, to fixing a wedding cake enjoyed early by an overzealous 7 year old...I just can't thank you enough. And all of that when you personally were ill!! Dave was a pure delight to work with as well.
Not only did you take care of all of the above...but nearly every guest we have spoken to has raved about the food and service. I have never heard anyone rave about wedding food or service before...amazing!
I would love to share our exceptional experience with whomever you report up to, and, if helpful, in the form of a testimonial. Please let me know who I can share our feedback with in your organization.
You are simply the best!
Abby

Vince,
As I said Saturday evening, Thomas did a wonderful job in attending to and delivering on on the details of the evening. I know ever events has its stories and challenges, but I felt the logistics, hail storm and impending tornado, 400 people, etc. lent itself to some exceptional challenges. I must say, every fear I may have considered was eliminated by your company's performance. Many, many people commented on the quality of the catering and service on every level. More postivie comments were made about the pasta course and the excellent temperature and quality and taste and temperature of the main course than you can imagine. I hope you heard these comments in person. I greatly appreciate the attention to detail that you and your staff gave the evening, including many of the specific requests we made relative to how things be done. If part of the Thomas mission is to focus on service, every one of your staff delivered that message. No matter how difficult a situation, I never saw any of your staff not do all they could to make the evening everything we had hoped. thank you! Maureen and Tony called to tell us it was the best day of their entire life, and that meant everything to us to hear. If I can ever provide a recommendation for you and your company, Renee and all those who worked so hard to make the evening as special as it was, do not hesitate to call.
